On 1 January 1942, 26 countries including the USSR signed a declaration to fight together until full victory and not to make a separate peace. The United Nations Organisation later grew out of this alliance.
The declaration was signed in Washington. The USA, Britain, the USSR and China signed first, and 22 more countries the next day. All of them promised to give everything to the common fight.
The words “United Nations” were coined by President Roosevelt. In 1945 this alliance grew into the United Nations Organization, which still works today. Iran was one of its founding members too.
